Statement Of Intent
The theme I have attempted is Conflict and we can go out of Manchester in a rural area to get these photographs during the summer time. I aim to get my photos to look stunning and I also hope to learn more about this theme so I have a clear idea. I also want to use a variety of camera settings like: ISO,Aperture,Shutter Speed and White Balance to make it outstanding. I will research photographers and artists that have done Conflict in order to see the style of their work.I want to capture a selective variety of photo shoots to explore my theme Conflict as a whole and make people look at my photos and understand the meaning behind it. I will take part in as many photo shoots as I can mostly inside of school
I want to visit websites that have inspired the topic Conflict throughout the course of this project, I will use the best of my ability with the camera and Photoshop to get the most out of my photos in photography and explore more into the topic I can also use a variety of ISO, apertures, white balance, shutter speed and rule of thirds to get certain things within the photographs. I might also experiment with the darkroom in order to manipulate the photographs. I will also use Photoshop to edit my photographs I have taken. I would also like to annotate my photographs in other applications to get it looking absolutely brilliant. I also want my photographs to show what kind of people there is out there that do things like this it makes a lot of people go insane so they self harm themselves. I hope to learn more about the environment we live in and what we can do to help but I also want to learn how to make my photographs look even better with Photoshop and look more sympathetic.

Analyzing a photograph
Context
This photo was taken in Syria and it was taken to show the people that this is what happens when the country’s are in war. The picture was taken by UNICEF (Universal Children's Emergency Fund). More than a quarter of a billion children – or 1 in 9 – live in countries and areas in conflict and face enormous obstacles to their health, education and well-being.
Above, Jamal Majati, carrying his sleeping 1-month-old son, Youssef, in a cloth basket, walks with his wife, Nour, and their 11-year-old son Mohammad, who can be seen in the background, across a muddy field in the village of Tabanovce, on the border with Serbia. They fled the Syrian city of Halab (Aleppo) and are making their way towards the Serbian border after arriving in the village by train. They hope to find “safety, rest, treatment, and education – most importantly, education” in Sweden, the family’s final destination.

Connection
The picture is cleverly placed in color as it shows the people viewing it there emotions so you can much easier relate to them as feel sorry for them and it also shows you the weather and the condition they've been through. The theme is conflict as it shows us not the blood, horror and guts that occurs but the effects of all the war and what the poor people have to do and suffer for in the tough conditions that they face. the photographer has took the picture at this very exact time to capture the anguish on there distressed faces. a message portrayed here is to show us the distress people have to face just due to all the war and conflict happening in the places around them.
Content
In the photo we can see that they are focusing on the family, the farm field, the building and the footprints in the mud. The structure in the picture is heavily focused on the gloom on the families faces as it creates the most sympathy to hook you in and it helps you understand there feelings better. the picture was taken in Syria to show everyone the harsh condition that people such as this family have to go through as they have a 1 month old baby but are fleeing from there home because its not safe there anymore. It is also shown as a full picture with detail as it has something everywhere for example the destroyed building which makes the epicures structure better and shows the distance they traveled.
Compostion
In this photo the rule of thirds is 2/3 of the photo is the mud and the other 1/3 of the photo is the dull grey sky. Their is also a strong leading line running through the middle flowing through the man and woman’s heads and it flows just over the little boys head. The photo has used a fast shutter speed to make it look like a still image. As you can see in the photo it doesn’t look like their is a depth of field because the people and the background is clear and it would be blurry in the background. As you can see the UNICEF photographer has used worms eye view to look up at the family and it looks like a soft lighting because its all dull and muddy in the background. My eye is drawn to the woman in the middle because she looks angry and upset they have to move away from their home and they become homeless. The person that took this photo has taken it from a worms eye view and hasn't used a tripod.
Comment
I think this picture is a good photo because it shows how families flea from their homes because of war and how they feel. It makes the viewer feel chills through their spine and they feel sympathy for the family because they have 2 young children and the child looks cold and probably feels lonely. On the contrary we can see that the boy is tired and hungry and cold. The photo looks modern and its in colour so it looks like it was taken 2-3 years ago. I can see the theme of family and how they are suffering and the journey. We can tell this was taken in Syria because the family look foreign and that its war and Syria was at war. The green grass takes away some of the sadness s it leaves the sense that theirs still life and happiness in the dark gloomy picture where it tries to hook you on the sadness.the picture is also really flat when looking at the people and there clothes and it also seems a little dark at places.
MOOD BOARD OF BULLYING.
These photos represent that people bully each other and its a serious matter because people start to self harm themselves and commit suicide. More than 16,000 young people are absent from school because of bullying. 83% of young people say bullying has a negative impact on their self-esteem. 30% of young people have gone on to self-harm as a result of bullying .10% of young people have attempted to commit suicide as a result of bullying. Those who have been bullied are more than twice as likely to have difficulty in keeping a job, or committing to saving compared to those not involved in bullying. People who have been bullied are at greatest risk for health problems in adulthood, over six times more likely to be diagnosed with a serious illness, smoke regularly, or develop a psychiatric disorder compared to those not involved in bullying.
My Photo shoot plan
Shoot 1
My best photoThis is my best photo because I have used a fast shutter speed and I have good exposure. It also looks as if the model is getting bullied into doing something they don't want to do.
|
My worst photoThis is my worst photo because I didn't have a good exposure and I used a slow shutter speed. It also looks blurry and I had a low aperture I used a tungsten light in white balance.
|
Shoot 2
My best photo
This is my worst because we can see how the person feels intimidated by how everyone has expressed how they feel about him and what they want to say. I had a cloudy white balance.

My worst photoThis is my worst photo because I had a slow shutter speed and had a really low aperture and the white balance was on tungsten.

Evaluation
The project we did was conflict and overall I feel passionate about learning about it because it tells and shows us what is happening around us and what it is like to be a part of it. I found the experience interesting because just learning about it and getting to actually be a part of the project was a phenomenal experience taking the photos and developing my ideas into Photoshop it was good. We experienced new techniques like how to use our cameras and enhancing Photoshop like the filters and tools to cut and add color or text. I would like to develop a bit more of Photoshop like how to make it look professional and make it look realistic and to also develop my camera skills such as the standards of the pictures I have taken. We researched UNICEF throughout this project and how they have taken their photos and also learn about the action in the photos and how they look or make people feel. They influenced my photos by making it look like a lot is happening in their and how it happened or why it happened and it taught me that life isn't what it seems. I enjoyed using Photoshop because it taught and showed me how to edit and make it look more professional it also showed me how we can reflect and improve on it. I feel that the most successful part of the project was my final piece because I used cyan tones and text to edit my work I also used filters to make it look realistic and better. I did have some problems with my project like the camera wouldn't work or the lighting wasn't good enough it was like it had too much exposure on the photos. I learnt from them that you can just turn the light down a little or add color filter to it to make it look less exposed we could also blur it out kind of. I would change the lighting in the photo to make it look less bleached out and make it look less exposed I would also change the way I took the photos so they wouldn't come out blurry or bleached out.
