Analyzing a photograph
Content/Composition
This photo was taken in Anglesey and it is showing the sea around the lighthouse. The sea makes up a frame for the actual building and our eyes get drawn to the sky because it looks beautiful and the sea because it looks soothing. The actual lighthouse is just 1/3 of the photo and the sea is 2/3 of the photo this is shown they have used rule of thirds in this photo and they have also used a medium aperture and fast shutter speed. They have also used depth of field.
Connection
It connects because I can go take a photo of this easily and because my topic is about landscapes so places that are in the countryside. It also connects because of the sea, it gives me a creative idea for what I would like to do when i take the photographs. We can tell that the photographer had a creative mindset for this photo. I believe I can pull off a picture like this and I also think that I could take a photo with a meaning behind it and also take a photo in a place that would be under the title landscapes.
Content
The water surrounds the lighthouse as if it wants to protect it and the sun reflecting on the water makes the water look transparent and looks more colorful. We can tell that it is a new picture like it was taken in modern day and the picture is taken in Anglesey. We can tell this photo has a professional taking it because it came out realistic and you can see the lighthouse very clearly.
Composition
They have used the rule of thirds the top is 1/3 of the photo and the cars are 2/3 of the photo. They have used depth of field and a fast shutter speed there is also a high aperture. The photographer has used a tripod to take the photo because it is eye level also made us draw our eye to the lighthouse. The lighting creates a soft contrast and also there is no strong leading line and their is no close up in the photo but it has fast shutter speed, medium aperture and rule of thirds.
Comment
In my opinion I think that the photo is a great photo it has a medium aperture and a fast shutter speed and a shady white balance. The strengths in this photo is they have a soft contrast and that there is a fast shutter speed and medium aperture I think this because the photo isn't bleached out and is in focus. I think that the sky gives a nice effect on the lighthouse and on the sea.

This photo was taken in Anglesey and it is showing the sea crashing and the waves colliding to make this image. As we can see we can see the water coming onto the dry land splashing around. We can see the rule of thirds 1/3 is just the dry land and another 1/3 is crashing waves.
Connection
It connects because I can go take a photo of this easily and because my topic is about landscapes so places that are in the countryside. It also connects because of the sea, it gives me ideas to try get a picture of the waves and the sea I would like to get a picture kind of like this where we see the waves crash. But in mine i could try get a picture of the waves rolling over each other.
Content
The water looks like its attacking something because of the force and pressure of the waves crashing. We can tell it is a new picture because it has color and it looks like its been recently taken. We can tell that it is a new picture like it was taken in modern day and the picture is taken in Anglesey. It looks as if a photographer with a good eye took this because it has come out really nice.

Linking Paragraph
For our Anglesey project we went in the winter time to capture our pictures and it was cold but there was quite a lot of sunshine. So in our photos there was a nice contrast and it made the photos turn out very beautiful because of how much light and sun there was and how it would reflect on the sea and make it look very blue and make the photos look outstanding.
Our Anglesey trip was a nice experience to get the photos we really wanted to get and go on a nice adventure of photography with great outcomes of our photos and we stayed in Anglesey for three days and then went to two different beaches and to animal graves and got really nice photos of them. Overall the photos looked really beautiful in the light we had and we got the best contrast in the photos the next set of pictures I’ll get are pictures from my hometown Manchester hopefully I get the best weather and contrast for the photos.

Salford
Landscape Project
I have chosen to do mixed media collage to manipulate my photos and mix my photos together to make a collage of famous places in Manchester. I like this theme because it looks very creative and organised and I would like to do this but with Manchesters famous tourist attractions. In order to do this I'm going to get pictures of the famous attractions in Manchester and try manipulate them and add color and little cut outs of the places . The reason why I chose this theme is because it has a lot of detailed meaning behind it and I would enjoy doing it.
Tutorial:
The photographer that has inspired me to do this project is Mae chevrette:
My photo before I manipulate it:
Duck linking the process
The tools I have used was the rectangle marquee tool and the blur motion to blur out all the bad bits that ruin the picture I also used the crop tool to crop out the buildings. I then started adding the filters to the cut outs to blend it in the photo. I got a bit stressed out when I couldn't figure out how to add the photos in but then I tried different techniques and found one to drag the photos along from the main folder and then added the filter in to make it look like a postcard kind of picture.

Mock Exam Evaluation 12/12/19
- What was the project theme and what did you think of it?
I think that the Landscapes project was a amazing because it taught me a lot of stuff like how to do certain things and it took me on an adventure because I was going places to capture the pictures and editing them onto Photoshop. My project theme was mixed media and I found it so exciting to do and doing creative things to refine the pictures. I thought it was an amazing and interesting experience because the theme put my skills to the test on like how to edit things and how to finish with great outcomes. I started looking at previous year 11 work and felt inspired to do mixed media because it looked creative and outstanding when your done with them. I also thought that it was missing a few touches so I went back and reflected on the edited pictures to make them look better.
- What part of the project did you enjoy the most/found most interesting?
I enjoyed going out into Manchester getting the pictures but I mostly enjoyed editing them onto Photoshop and making them look so much more better it helped develop my ideas into being creative ones and helped the pictures look well better from what they looked like I manipulated the outcomes into something more creative and using the different types of tools to get my picture looking professional and I also made the pictures look better because I started cutting and cropping then started adding filters into them.
- What new techniques have you experienced?
I experienced so many techniques throughout the course of this project like how to cut and refine the picture, how to cut and paste or how to add a filter to the picture and make the picture look even more better and more effective. The techniques I used on Photoshop showed more of my knowledge and understanding to get creative with the pictures and show a clear understanding on how to use the techniques. I even learnt how to use the mirroring effect on my pictures and found it very fun to play around with and use in the process.
- What technique would you like to develop further?
I would like to carry on adding filters to pictures because I enjoyed doing them and making them look more effective to use on my website and to show my knowledge on how to add a filter into the background to make it look like a part of the picture. I would like to develop a clear understanding of the filter process. In order to do this I am going to try do some research on photographers or try different kinds of filters and effects to make the final outcomes more productive.
- Which photographers did you research through this project?
The photographers that I have researched are Alan Shapiro for his photograph of snow flowers and Mae Chevrette for her project theme that inspired me to do the project of mixed media and is known for doing mixed media of Cities and Places around the world. It inspired me to do mixed media for Salford in Manchester but add things like famous places but in writing.
- How have they influenced your photographs?
Mae Chevrette's photography work inspired me to do mixed media of Manchester her pictures and photography work gave me a clear idea of what I want to do in the project and how I want to do it. It also influenced me to do a mashup kind of thing with Salford and Anglesey so it looks more complete.
- Which technique did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed doing the filter technique because it taught me a lot of things and it was really fascinating when I saw the final outcome it looked so nice with the mashup of backgrounds and how I added tone to make it more outstanding and professional. The technique gave me a chance to understand how to edit the pictures and how to use the time efficiently for a better outcome. The technique gave me a lot of time to think and go over my project as a whole to see how it looks put together.
- What do you feel is the most successful part of your project and why?
I feel that the most successful part of the project was editing it all on to Photoshop because I gave a lot of thought and effort into the pictures like how I want them to look by the end and what I want to add to make it look better.
